Meet the Faces of Our New SALON by milk + honey South Lamar
November 20, 2014We’re so excited for you to see the newest salon for yourself. And as we prep to open the doors of our 4715 South Lamar location on Monday, November 24, 2014, it’s about time you meet some of the amazing stylists who work there. Be sure to book your appointment now — especially as the holiday festivities ramp up!
Katie, hair stylist at SALON by milk + honey South Lamar // Katie attended the Aveda Institute in Chicago and started working for Chicago’s Art and Science Salon. She was part of a year-long advanced training program and perfected her cutting and formal styling techniques — in fact, she stayed with Art and Science Salon focusing on cuts and formal styling until she moved to Austin in 2012. Katie has a passion for blondes and enjoys working a great transformation to a pixie cut. She is an expert on enhancing others’ natural texture to give a great style.
Ann, hair stylist at SALON by milk + honey South Lamar // Ann started her stylist career in 2006, apprenticing and training under the talented stylists of Kasbah Salon. She continued her career and education while working at Joie de Vie on Sixth Street. She loves to learn any new trend that comes along and keep her clients fresh with the hottest styles. She enjoys doing razor and textured cuts for men and women.
Jaymee, hair stylist at SALON by milk + honey South Lamar // Jaymee attended the Aveda Institute in San Antonio and over the years, has continued to attended Aveda-lead training. She loves doing hair because she loves making people feel beautiful. “There is nothing like creating a new fresh look for your client and giving them a boost of confidence. I feel blessed to do what I do, I am able to let my creativeness flow as well as make people feel good. Life is so stressful – sometimes all we need is a visit to the salon,” she says.
Introducing the Newest Faces of milk + honey!
June 2, 2014
Lucy, shampoo assistant at SALON by milk + honey 2nd Street District
Lucy moved to Austin 11 months ago to attend Avenue Five Cosmetology school. Her favorite thing to do in Austin is to eat — and she loves to try new restaurants downtown. She also enjoys hiking and doing yoga. Book your next appointment downtown and see Lucy for your shampoo.
Jen, concierge for all milk + honey locations
Jen moved to Austin only one week ago from Newport Beach where she was a spa concierge and just finished esthetics school. We are so pleased to have her knowledge and experience on our team. Jen decided to work with m + h because she wants to share her knowledge and help people live happy, healthy lives.
Melinda, nail therapist at milk + honey spa 2nd Street District
Melinda became a nail therapist because as she was receiving a pedicure, she realized how much she enjoyed the atmosphere and wanted to be a part of it. She went to nails school shortly afterward and fell in love with her new career. Melinda has been in Austin for two years, and likes to explore the city. Help us welcome Melinda to the team and book you next mani/pedi with her at the downtown spa!
Have You Met the Newest Faces on the milk + honey Team?
March 10, 2014We’re lucky to have such a talented, inspiring team of stylists, licensed massage therapists, estheticians, and concierges. And as we grow, so does our milk + honey family. Meet the newest faces, and make sure to come in to all three locations to say “hi!”
Meg, stylist at SALON by milk + honey at Arboretum Market
Meg is a beauty industry veteran. After 15 years as a makeup artist and esthetician, Meg sought a new challenge and became a hair stylist. She spent three years in New York, falling in love with her new field, and moved to Austin in 2013. Meg feels a connection to her clients and has a knack for understanding their needs, and creating cuts and colors that are wearable and easy to maintain. She loves creating luxurious blondes, eliminating frizz with keratin smoothing treatments, and cutting sassy pixie styles. When she’s not in the salon, Meg is probably at the movies, cooking extravagant dinners, or playing with her Chinese Crested puppies, Billie and Miles.
Mark, licensed massage therapist at 2nd Street District/Downtown spa
Mark has been in Austin for the past seven years and has been heavily involved in our local dance community. He has two cats whom he likes to spend his spare time with. And when he’s not dancing or chilling with his cats in his down time, he also enjoys yoga and bodywork.
Alyssa, shampoo assistant at Hill Country Galleria salon
Alyssa has been in Austin for the past six months, but she has already fallen in love with the city’s hike and bike trails, music scene, and busy outdoor life. She decided to become a cosmetologist because she loves hair, the salon life, and meeting new people. Her beauty tip is “as long as you own your style, you can pull it off!”
Kim, licensed massage therapist at 2nd Street District/Downtown spa
Kim moved to Austin seven years ago. She loves being outdoors, and her favorite place to be (outside of the spa) is the Greenbelt. Kim became a massage therapist because she really wanted to give something special to other people. Her favorite beauty tip is a DIY oil, mixing castor oil and grape seed oil — it’s great for your skin and hair.
Jordan R., nail tech at the SALON by milk + honey at Arboretum Market
Jordan moved to Austin three years ago from Seattle, Washington. She loves it here, and enjoys going to see any concert or live music. Jordan loves being a nail therapist and being able to make others feel beautiful inside and out.
If you’ve been to milk + honey recently or have an appointment scheduled in the coming weeks, you may have noticed some changes in our processes. In some cases we’ve been a bit slower at scheduling your appointment or checking you out as our concierge staff learns to master the new system. We truly appreciate the patience you’ve shown.
With that said, we are very excited about the new system because of the many benefits it will offer you:
Better Email Communication
In the past, we offered limited email confirmations. With our new system, you will receive an email immediately after you schedule your appointment, and then again about 36 hours prior to your appointment to confirm. The new confirmation email offers a simple link that allows you to confirm the appointment with a single click rather than having to reply to our email. These emails also include links that will automatically put your appointment into calendar apps, such as Outlook and iCal.
If for any reason you would prefer not to receive any email communications from us, we’ll be happy to confirm by phone, and will remove you from all email lists.
Online Account Management
Our new system also allows you to manage your own milk + honey account online. From our online portal, you will be able to:
- • View future and past appointments
- • Review product purchases and place online orders
- • Confirm or cancel upcoming appointments
- • View your series or milk + honey memberships
- • View your VIP point balance
- • Purchase popular products that are available at the spa as well as series, memberships, and gift certificates
Over the next few months, we will also start to offer online booking of certain treatments, allowing you to schedule your treatments from a computer or smart phone.
As a bonus for using this system you will earn 1,000 VIP points for creating an online account. Keep in mind that this is a new system, so data only goes back to December 2011. We’re confident this system will become more and more useful with time.
Online Gift Certificates
Just in time for the holiday season, we have a new system to purchase gift certificates that can be emailed or printed instantly. If you are looking for a beautiful instant gift certificate, click here. If you prefer to have a gift certificate mailed to you or yours, please click here. Don’t forget that we have special Holiday Packages for you to enjoy as well.
We truly appreciate your patronage and hope our new system will enhance your experience with milk + honey. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know.
SALON by milk + honey is excited to welcome Amanda to the downtown location!
Amanda is a very talented stylist who has an extensive background and a staggering amount of education. She has been styling since 2006 and has worked with Aveda for most of her career. Amanda loves to connect with people and make them feel great. She especially enjoys a curly hair challenge and loves an opportunity to perform a complex color service, although she loves blowouts, layer cuts and updos too. Let’s face it, this girl can do anything.
When she’s not at work, Amanda can be found attending continuing education classes, playing with her two dogs or watching “I Heart Huckabees,” her favorite movie.
Welcome Amanda!
SALON by milk + honey is pleased to welcome Kenneth to our amazing team of stylists.
Kenneth has been a loyal Texan for the past 19 years. He began his career five years ago as an up and coming stylist and has never looked back. Kenneth has a passion for color, whether it’s highlights, corrective color or a simple one-step. His color training has taken him from Los Angeles to Miami and back.
When he’s not learning new techniques and enhancing his skill, you’ll likely find him relaxing outside or at home. Spend some time with Kenneth and you’ll see he’s probably one of the most relaxed people you’ve met. He loves Austin; it’s where he’s supposed to be.
Welcome Kenneth!
