August 20, 2012

The founder and owner of milk + honey, Alissa Bayer, is now the proud owner of the Golden Boot (pictured). That’s right, Austin Fashion Week named Bayer one of five recipients of the 2012 Trailblazer Award.

The Austin Fashion Awards were held at the Austin Music Hall on Saturday night and brought the week-long celebration to an end.

Matt Swinney, the Austin Fashion Week founder, told the Statesman.com, “It gets bigger and bigger every year, and I get most of the credit, but that’s not fair. It takes the entire community to put together.” Swinney says it’s rewarding every time “designers who have put their blood, sweat and tears into a collection trust us to do it justice here.”

Mercedes:

My mom and I always come to see Mercedes together – and it feels like she’s one of the family! She is lovely to talk to, great with pedicures, and makes everyone around her feel comfortable. I recommend milk + honey to all of my friends – and then go further and tell them to go see Mercedes.

Paul:

There isn’t enough room in this box to fully explain why I. Love. Paul. and recommend him to anyone who says anything about massage, ever. He’s calm, quiet, and professional, which makes massages with him even better. Last quarter we had two massage therapists split the title of Fan Favorite: Matt and Randy.

One of Matt’s nominations reads:

“Matt has a calming presence, kind words, a sharp wit and I appreciate his endless quest to learn new massage and relaxation techniques. He is consistently honing his craft and his clients reap the benefits. Matt has saved me from the self mutilation of two MS150 bike rides and a 500 mile bike ride across the state of Iowa. He has unstressed me through the very uncomfortable pregnancy of my first kiddo and unwound me through multiple months of new baby sleep deprivation.”

One of Randy’s nominations reads:

“He is interested in my overall health and wellness. Remembers type of treatment and intuitively knows if something new is needed. His calm quiet manner and professionalism makes each experience better than the last! He is a jewel!”
